Smith & Wesson CEO Goes Off On Activists And Lawmakers For Feeding ‘Culture Of Lawlessness’

Gun manufacturer Smith & Wesson has gone off on lawmakers for trying to demonize firearms and lawful gun owners in order to try and cover for failed policies that have caused a massive surge in crime rates.

Mark Smith, the company president and CEO, put out an official 440-word release this past Monday calling out “politicians and their lobbying partners in the media.” Smith has accused the cabal of trying to use his company and many other gun manufacturers as scapegoats for a “crisis of violence” that has gone across the United States.

“Some have had the audacity to suggest that after they have vilified, undermined and defunded law enforcement for years, supported prosecutors who refuse to hold criminals accountable for their actions, overseen the decay of our country’s mental health infrastructure, and generally promoted a culture of lawlessness, Smith & Wesson and other firearm manufacturers are somehow responsible for the crime wave that has predictably resulted from these destructive policies,” stated Smith. “But they are the ones to blame for the surge in violence and lawlessness, and they seek to avoid any responsibility for the crisis of violence they have created by attempting to shift the blame to Smith & Wesson, other firearm manufacturers and law-abiding gun owners.”

“It is no surprise that the cities suffering most from violent crime are the very same cities that have promoted irresponsible, soft-on-crime policies that often treat criminals as victims and victims as criminals,” he went on, highlighting that it is often those particular cities that have strict gun control policies.

Many Left-wing prosecutors in areas such as New York, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles have been present for massive spokes in violent crime across the communities they are tasked with keeping safe and in order. Most notably, Philadelphia has been much more dangerous than the rest and is at risk of setting a record in the country for most homicides in a single year, tracking closely with its previous record set last year.

Larry Krasner, the Soros-backed district attorney of Philadelphia, is on of those previously mentioned extreme left-leaning prosecutors in the U.S. He has dealt with heavy criticism over his city’s spike in violent crime, and has even been the target of threats by Republican state legislators of impeachment.

Old Uncle Joe has issued statements that gun control is one of his main priorities. He has doubled down on these claims to try and issue bans on semi-automatic rifles and what he labels as “high-capacity” magazines in the wake of mass shootings across the state.

This past June, Democrats demonstrated at an even just outside of the Smith & Wesson headquarters in Springfield, Massachusetts, in an attempt to call for stricter gun control. The event was headed up by Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey (D) in his targeting of Smith & Wesson in particular.

“More and more mass shooters murder more and more Americans with these assault weapons in hand,” stated Markey. “The AR-15 style assault weapons made right here at Smith and Wesson were used in mass shootings.”

Smith claimed that the blame directed at guns and gun-owners is entirely misplaced. “To be clear, a Smith & Wesson firearm has never broken into a home, a Smith & Wesson firearm has never assaulted a woman out for a late-night run in the city, a Smith & Wesson firearm has never carjacked an unsuspecting driver stopped at a traffic light,” he expressed.

“Instead, Smith & Wesson provides these citizens with the means to protect themselves and their families,” he stated. Smith ended his comments by pledging to “never back down in our defense of the Second Amendment.”
