Kicking back against abortion, Kansas City Chiefs‘ Harrison Butker took a bold stance at the White House on Monday amid the team‘s celebration of their Super Bowl win.
Butker, a practicing Catholic, wore a tie with the Latin phrase “Vulnerari Praesidio,” which translates to “protect the most vulnerable,” along with a pin representing the feet of a 10–week baby. The pro–life statement did not pass unrecognized as it was designed for him by the pro–life organization Live Action.
The organization later released an official statement, titled “Pro–Life Message From Harrison Butker at the White House,” in which they noted that President Joe Biden, a professing Catholic, is leading the most pro–abortion administration in America‘s history―a fact which Butker worries could mean the end of protections for the unborn.
“I want to give the most vulnerable, the unborn, a place where every effort has been made to allow and normalize the tragic termination of their lives,” Butker said in the statement. “As a father who has experienced three miscarriages, my wife and I understand the hardships that come with losing a child. Every life is precious and should be valued whether outside or inside the womb.”
Live Action President Lila Rose echoed this sentiment in her statement, saying, “President Biden is a professing Catholic who, as the most powerful man in the world, is responsible for leading the most pro–abortion administration in our history that has overseen a horrific death toll of 2,548 children every day lost to abortion. I call on President Biden to reject the extremism of the abortion lobby and to protect the vulnerable children of his nation.”
Unfortunately, Biden does not appear to be *listening. Press Secretary Karine Jean–Pierre provided only a non–committal response when asked about the President‘s stance on the abortion debate. However, by her repeated references to the Women‘s Health Protection Act, she appears to be attempting to mislead the public and divert attention away from Biden‘s full support of abortion up until birth without legal limit throughout the country.
Butker‘s pro–life stance is admirable, and we should all be encouraged by his efforts to raise awareness of this important issue. Though it may seem like a single voice is powerless, Butker‘s message is one that will be heard all over the country. Let us pray that his call for protection of the unborn is one that Biden will heed.
