On Tuesday, Jake Tapper with CNN questioned President Joe Biden concerning the possible criminal charges being slated against his son Hunter, and the response from Old Uncle Joe was to issue nothing but love and admiration for the person he once called the “smartest man” he knows.
This past week, it was reported that federal prosecutors had managed to pull together enough evidence “months ago” to issue charges against Hunter Biden for various crimes in relation to taxes and lying to investigators about the buying of a gun, as reported by The Washington Post. Tapper questioned Biden on how he reacts to the information about his son “personally and politically.”
“Well first of all, I’m proud of my son,” started the president. “This is a kid who got, not a kid he’s a grown man, he got hooked on, like many families have had happen, hooked on drugs. He’s overcome that, he’s established a new life.”

As of writing, there have been no charges officially filed against Biden’s 52-year-old son in the wake of the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden’s business deals from back in 2018. As the investigation got larger, multiple agencies scrutinized whether he had correctly paid all the taxes which were required of him and whether he lied on an official ATF Form 4473 background check while buying a gun.
Currently, only the U.S. attorney out of Delaware sports the authority to choose to go forward with the charging of Hunter Biden with any crimes. However, the president did suggest to Tapper that he is not worried at all when ti comes to Hunter Biden getting into any sort of real or actual big trouble.
“I’m confident that what he says and does are consistent with what happens,” stated Biden.
“I have great confidence in my son,” he stated. “I love him, and he’s on the straight and narrow, and he has been for a couple years now, and I’m just so proud of him.”
