Biden Doubles Down On Insane Claims Concerning AR-15 Bullet Velocity As He Campaigns For A Ban

President Joe Biden’s insane claim that AR-15s shoot bullets at a velocity that is roughly five times higher than that of any other gun has been discredited by many groups who know guns.

This past Friday, Biden once again repeated the claims as part of a speech issued to the National Education Association teachers union, despite the fact that it has been repeatedly and widely debunked. Quite a few rifled, and even a few handguns, are known to fire bullets at a much higher velocity than what is fired by AR-15s, which normally sit at around 2,700-3,100 feet per second.

“The speed of the bullet is five times that that comes out of the muzzle of most weapons,” exclaimed Biden, attempting to describe the very popular hunting rifle as only a “weapon of war.”

Despite the fact that some mass shooters, which include the Buffalo and Uvalde killers from earlier this past year, made use of at-15-style rifles, the vast majority of murders are carried out via the use of handguns. Advocates of more extreme and restrictive gun control policies label AR-15s and AK-47s as “assault rifles,” despite the fact that there is no actual definition for the term.

Biden has often parrotted these odd claims that AR-15s fire bullets at much higher velocities than any other guns. As reported earlier this month by The Washington Post, Biden had “bungled the statistic” after he had made the very same claim this past August.

“Biden was clearly wrong in his statement this week,” stated the Post.

Biden has spouted quite a few other false claims concerning guns and the Second Amendment. This past May, He stated that when the Second Amendment was written and put in place, it did not allow people to possess certain weapons.

“And I might add: The Second Amendment, from the day it was passed, limited the type of people who could own a gun and what type of weapon you could own,” he stated. “You couldn’t buy a cannon.”

However, many historians highlighted the fact that there was absolutely no truth to that claim.

While the bullets of AR-15s do fire at higher velocities, they do not even come close to the insane levels spouted by Biden, as reported by ballistics experts. When they leave the barrel, AR-15 bullets are moving at roughly two times the speed of rounds shot from a standard handgun.

The White House is pushing extremely hard for new measures regarding gun control as we enter the run-up to the midterm elections. In that same vein, Vice President Kamala Harris has recently spoken out about setting up a ban against all so-called assault rifles.

“Do you know what an assault weapon is?” expressed Harris back in May. “It was designed for a specific purpose, to kill a lot of human beings quickly. An assault weapon is a weapon of war, with no place, no place in a civil society.”

Jonathan Turley, a law professor for George Washington University, stated via his blog that the banning of one specific type of gun would end up being quite problematic for court systems if could not be concretely established that said type of gun is no more powerful than others.

“There are good-faith arguments for gun control, including arguments that the Second Amendment does not create an individual right to bear arms,” explained Turley. “We should continue to have that worthy debate but we should follow the rule of the late Sen. Patrick Moynihan that ‘everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts.’”
