Senator Joe Manchin, a Democrat from West Virginia, who recently announced he won’t seek re-election, is reportedly considering a third-party run. Though he deems it a “long shot,” Manchin sees the potential to move the established parties back to their roots for a return to normalcy. He has also hinted at the possibility of a presidential run in a recent interview.
Bennet is critical of “No Labels,” asserting they are the “only people on earth who think they can win.” Despite this skepticism, “No Labels” chief strategist Ryan Clancy sees an opening for a third-party ticket, citing polls indicating dissatisfaction with potential candidates from both major parties. Clancy believes this time is different, emphasizing the depth of voter dissatisfaction that Washington has yet to recognize.
Clarifying the situation, Clancy mentioned that the group is not actively in talks with Manchin regarding a potential run. In a previous statement to Fox News Digital, Bennet dismissed the idea that “No Labels” could win in 2024 as “pure fantasy,” asserting that the notion of their victory, especially in the 25 states they claim, is unrealistic. The ongoing debate underscores the tension between the desire for a third-party alternative and skepticism about its viability in the current political landscape.
