In the wake of a recent string of violent assaults against various pro-life pregnancy centers, New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) seems to be making an odd choice by amping up the rhetoric against pro-lifers, now labeling them as “neanderthals.”
This past Monday, Hochul put her pen to a piece of legislation to amplify abortion “rights” and “empower” its providers across the state of New York.
“This is the United States of America, where freedom and liberty are supposed to mean something,” stated the Democrat. “It’s the rock upon which we were founded. It is supposed to mean something. Except in the eyes of some neanderthals who say, women are not entitled to those rights.”
Just a few weeks ago, one pro-life pregnancy center out in Buffalo named CompassCare was attacked with firebombs; windows were shattered, the medical office in the building was set on fire, and the vandals tagged the building with “Jane Was Here,” a phrase used by a pro-abortion group named Jane’s Revenge.
“They broke glass in the middle of the night, under the cover of darkness, to keep us from doing the work of the Lord, from being the light of the world,” stated Jim Harden, the CEO of CompassCare, in the wake of the attack. “And we’re not gonna stop.”
CompassCare is not the only pro-life center that has been recently assaulted by these extremists. As reported by Catholic Vote, well over 20 pregnancy resource centers and officers of many pro-life groups have been vandalized or assaulted in the wake of the leaked draft opinion from the SCOTUS concerning Roe v. Wade in May.
Just last week, it was reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is “investigating a series of attacks and threats targeting pregnancy resource centers and faith-based organizations across the country.”
“The FBI takes all threats seriously and we continue to work closely with our law enforcement partners and will remain vigilant to protect our communities,” stated the FBI. “We would like to remind members of the public that if they observe anything suspicious or have information about potential threats to report it to law enforcement immediately, call their local FBI field office, or submit a tip to tips.fbi.gov.”
Additionally, Harden has called out Hochul, accusing her of outright refusing to protect any pro-life Americans.
“Refusal to equally enforce the law on behalf of those whose ideology differs from that of the political elite, turns people like pro-lifers into second-class citizens,” he exclaimed. “Either all of us are equal under the law, without qualification, including preborn boys and girls, or equality is just a word politicians use to manipulate the masses.”
