FTC Sues Christian University

The Biden administration is wasting no time in targeting conservative institutions with baseless allegations and lawsuits. The latest target is Grand Canyon University (GCU), the largest Christian school in the nation.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a lawsuit against the university, its marketer Grand Canyon Education, Inc., and its president and CEO Brian Mueller for allegedly engaging in deceptive advertising and illegal telemarketing.

However, this is not the first time GCU has come under attack by the Biden administration. Just a few weeks ago, the Department of Education (DOE) fined the university $37.7 million, claiming they “lied” to over 7,500 students about the cost of their doctoral programs. This coordinated attack by multiple federal agencies is clearly a politically motivated effort to discredit and harm a conservative institution.

The allegations made by the FTC are baseless and lack any substantial evidence. GCU has always been transparent about its costs and program lengths and has consistently provided students with an exceptional education. It is clear that the Biden administration is using its power to target GCU and hinder its mission to educate and empower students with Christian values.

This is just another example of the left’s attack on conservative values and institutions. The FTC’s complaint accuses GCU of violating the FTC Act and the Telemarketing Sale Rules but provides no concrete evidence to support these claims. It seems that the Biden administration is willing to use any means necessary to undermine and silence conservative voices.

It is also worth noting that the DOE’s $37.7 million fine against GCU is the largest ever issued by the department. This raises questions of political motivation and whether the DOE is unfairly targeting conservative institutions.

GCU has been denied nonprofit status by the DOE, which continues to classify the university as a for-profit entity. This decision has greatly impacted GCU’s ability to offer federal student financial aid to its students.

The DOE’s denial of GCU’s nonprofit status and the FTC’s baseless lawsuit are clear attempts to cripple this conservative institution. Grand Canyon University has faced adversity before and has always come out stronger. It is clear that the Biden administration is scared of the influence of conservative values and is attempting to silence them by any means necessary.

The timing of these attacks is also worth noting. GCU expressed interest in converting to a nonprofit institution in 2018, but the Biden administration has consistently blocked this effort. It seems convenient that now, under a Democratic administration, GCU is facing such intense scrutiny and attacks. This is yet another example of the left’s attempt to suppress conservative values and voices.

The DOE and FTC’s actions against GCU will only hurt students and their ability to access higher education. The university has a strong record of providing students with affordable and quality education, and these baseless attacks are only causing harm.

The Biden administration’s relentless targeting of conservative institutions must end. We must continue to support and defend institutions like GCU, which promote conservative values and provide students with the education they deserve.
