Vice President Kamala Harris has been left in hot water after her comments on reducing the population to combat climate change. The Vice President has tried to backtrack the comment, which was initially interpreted as a solution for global warming, with White House scrambling to clean up the mess.
Harris was speaking at an event in Denmark when she made the controversial statement. “When we invest in clean energy and electric vehicles and reduce population, more of our children can breath clean air and drink clean water,” she said. The White House has since “corrected” the transcript of her speech, replacing “population” with “pollution”, despite Harris failing to address her “error” when she was speaking.

Democrats have a long history of warning the public of the impending danger of so-called “climate change”. In 2019, Bernie Sanders, one of the most progressive liberals in their party, was asked by a school teacher whether it would be possible to fight global warming given the fact that “the world’s population had doubled over the last 50 years”. Sanders responded “absolutely, yes”. During her speech, Harris told the audience that “The clock is not only ticking, it is banging,” adding “We must act”.

However, a new study from 2022 posed serious doubts on the Democratic party’s climate change warnings. “We need to remind ourselves that addressing climate change is not an end in itself, and that climate change is not the only problem that the world is facing,” the study concluded, “the objective should be to improve human well-being in the twenty-first century while protecting the environment as much as we can”
It seems that Vice President Harris’s comments have come to epitomize the perception of the Democratic approach to climate change. A disregard for the balance between addressing global warming and maintaining human prosperity. With the 2022 study directly challenging their extreme policies, it remains to be seen whether the Biden administration will be able to repair the damage of their Vice President’s call for population reduction.
