Jeff Bezos, the founder of online shopping titan Amazon, went after President Joe Biden once again in the wake of the Biden issuing demands that privately owned gas stations drop their prices “and do it now.”
Bezos, who is also the owner of the left-wing news site Washington Post and a vocal liberal, hurled harsh criticism at the president via a social media post that asked if Biden actually had an understanding of basic economics. This marks the second time in as many months that Bezos has chosen to chime in with a series of scathing remarks for Biden.
“Ouch. Inflation is far too important a problem for the White House to keep making statements like this,” stated Bezos in his post. “It’s either straight ahead misdirection or a deep misunderstanding of basic market dynamics.”

The Biden administration has been struggling to throw the blame for the rapidly rising fuel prices that the American public is seeing at the pump to be the fault of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Big Oil, and now gasoline retailers. Many critics claim that the administration has had a strong hand in the creation of these high gas prices by slashing the domestic oil production for the U.S. and putting much more emphasis on anti-fossil fuel environmental policies.
In the most recent episode of Biden trying to blame everything but himself for the increasing costs of gas, which has finally broken the $5 a gallon mark over the past few weeks, he has targeted local privately owned gas stations.
“My message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple: this is a time of war and global peril,” stated Biden. “Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product. And do it now.”
Back in May, Bezos called out Biden for the same issue, inflation. That instance of criticism came to be in the wake of Biden claiming that wealthy companies, which is presumed to have included Amazon, refuse to pay their fair share of taxes.
“You want to bring down inflation?” stated Biden via Twitter. “Let’s make sure the wealthiest corporations pay their fair share.”
Bezo issues a response by stating that Biden was obviously quite confused about Econ 101. He stated that the ill-fated Disinformation Governance Board, which was still being set up by those within the Biden administration, should “review this tweet. or maybe they need to form a new Non-Sequitur Board instead.”
“Raising corp taxes is fine to discuss,” stated Bezos. “Taming inflation is critical to discuss. Mushing them together is just misdirection.”
