CRT Backer Ibram X. Kendi Claims The Push To Ban ‘Assault Rifles’ Is The Same As Fight To End Slavery

According to statements released this past Sunday by a CBS contributor and their chief proponent of Critical Race Theory (CRT), the current battle to try and ban all oddly labeled assault weapons is quite similar to America’s long fight to try and end slavery.

In a piece commemorating Juneteenth, Ibram X Kendi stated to host Margaret Brennan on “Face the Nation” that he teaches his small children that the fight for emancipation still is taking place to this day. Kendi, known as the “Racial Justice Contributor” for the station, stated that “freedom” today means total liberation from guns and poverty.

“I’m actually going to teach her that … throughout this nation’s history, there’s [sic] been two perspectives on freedom, really two fights for freedom,” Kendi continued. “Enslaved people were fighting for freedom from slavery, and enslavers were fighting for the freedom to enslave.”

“And in many ways that sort of contrast still exists today,” he went on. “There are people who are fighting for freedom from assault rifles, freedom from poverty, freedom from exploitation. And there are others who are fighting for freedom to exploit, freedom to have guns, freedom to maintain inequality.”

As the author of many heavily controversial books such as “How to Be an Antiracist,” Kendi thinks that America is infested with systemic racism and white privilege. He also attempts to make the argument that whites should be forced to acknowledge their privilege and their implicit bias, along with America’s systemic racism, in order to go against racism.

Kendi stated that he is making sure to raise his daughter to think that the fight to purge America of his view of racism is the exact same thing as the fight to end slavery.

“I really want to get her to understand there are multiple kinds of freedom, and she should be fighting for and joining with those who are fighting for freedom from something like slavery,” he stated. “And the way kids can understand it is, kids understand bad rules. My daughter understands what’s not fair. And we can teach children that there’s [sic] bad rules in society. There are things that are not fair in society. And that’s why, let’s say black people, have less. It’s not because they are less.”

Gun control has managed to dash its way back into the national spotlight in the wake of the recent string of mass shootings. While the vast majority of firearm deaths in the U.S. happen with handguns, both shootings from the previous month utilized AR-15-style weapons. These types of firearms are most often referred to as “assault weapons,” but that term has been crafted by the media and is not used at all in the industry, and many lawmakers seem to struggle to define what it means in order to actually create legislation.
