Popular conservative talk show host Sean Hannity announced on Tuesday that his home base is moving from New York to the Sunshine State of Florida.
On his iHeartRadio talk show, he delighted listeners with the “breaking news” that he is officially broadcasting from his new studio in Florida, where he has taken full-time residence.
Hannity expressed enthusiasm at the prospect of settling down in Florida, saying, “If anybody has been listening to this program, they know that I have been threatening to do this for quite a while. But we are now beginning our first broadcast of my new home, and that is in the free state of Florida. I am out, I am done, I am finished. Goodbye, New York.”
The popular radio host cited several reasons for his relocation, including the warm climate and the absence of state income tax in Florida. He also expressed excitement at sharing political values with the state’s representatives, such as Governor Ron DeSantis and Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott.
Hannity also acknowledged that his move to Florida may come as no surprise to some, as it is a trend that is becoming increasingly common among New Yorkers due to the high tax rates, burdensome regulation, high crime rates, and inadequate school districts in the state.
The news of Hannity’s move is just the latest instance of a high-profile conservative voice relocating to Florida. In fact, fellow Fox News host Tucker Carlson often broadcasts his show remotely from a compound in rural Maine or an estate on the Western coast of Florida. MSNBC’s Morning Joe co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski also regularly host their show from their home studio in Jupiter, Florida.
Hannity also mentioned how, for many years, he has been hosting his Fox News show from his Long Island compound, with occasional live shows in Midtown Manhattan. He assured listeners that he and Fox News have the means to fly him back and forth from Florida for live shows.
The move has inevitably sparked speculation about Hannity’s personal life, as last year it was revealed that he and Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt are in a relationship. However, given their busy schedules, it is unlikely that the move will affect their relationship, as they are mostly together on weekends.
According to critics, the timing of Hannity’s move may be viewed as somewhat opportunistic, coming when he’s no longer bound to the strict regulations that prohibit political contributions to the candidates he hosts on his show. His move to Florida may give the impression that he is planning to contribute to the upcoming midterm elections, where Florida will be a key battleground.
Overall, Hannity’s announcement has been welcomed by his listeners, who are excited about his new home and the prospect of seeing and hearing more about the famous conservative talk show host’s life in the Sunshine State. Whether this move will have any impact on his show remains to be seen, but for now, Hannity is eager to embrace the “free state of Florida” as his new home.
